  1. COMPATIBILITY STATEMENT
  2. C&D Programming's CacheAll Version 1.0 is compatible with LANtastic NOS 
  3. version 4.x.

  5. PRODUCT OVERVIEW
  6. CacheAll is a disk-caching program which can cache all DOS compatible 
  7. devices accessible through a drive letter, including local hard disks, 
  8. network'ed drives, CD-ROM drives, WORM drives, etc.  3 types of memory 
  9. configurations are supported: extended, XMS and EMS.  You can also use your 
  10. local hard drive as additional cache memory.  
  11. By default, CacheAll only caches files which are open with Deny Write or 
  12. Exclusive sharing privileges.  It is designed for speeding up read operations 
  13. on the workstation side, whereas the LANtastic LANCache caches the local 
  14. physical disk drives and is geared towards write operations on servers.

  16. INSTALLATION:
  17. If you are installing CacheAll on a LANtastic server for use by various 
  18. workstations, you should complete the following steps:
  19. 1.      Install the CacheAll program onto a LANtastic server by running the 
  20. CacheAll INSTALL program from the distribution diskette.  The installation 
  21. program will automatically create the program directory, C:\CACHEALL by 
  22. default.
  23. 2.      Set up a sharable resource (e.g. \\SERVER\CACHEALL) on the server 
  24. with default Access Control List (ACL) using NET_MGR.  No special 
  25. ACL's are necessary.
  26. 3.      Set up LANtastic Group and/or Individual accounts with correct 
  27. privileges using NET_MGR.  No special privileges are necessary.
  28. No special workstation installation is needed.  You can just log onto the 
  29. CacheAll server, redirect a drive to point to the appropriate resource and 
  30. run the CacheAll program.

  32. CONFIGURATION:
  33. CacheAll must be executed after all components of the LANtastic network have 
  34. been started, especially REDIR and SERVER.  During our testing, we did not 
  35. find any problems with CacheAll co-existing with LANCache on the same 
  36. machine.  The minimum amount of memory required by CacheAll is 18K and it 
  37. can be loaded high.  CacheAll has many command line options to configure its 
  38. performance and memory usage.  Refer to the documentation for a listing of 
  39. all options.

  44. NETWORK DISCONNECTS
  45. Network disconnects produce the same type of errors that DOS produces.  For 
  46. example, if P: is a cached network drive, a disconnect will produce the 
  47. following error message:
